This is Northern Beaches casual dining, at its best and it appears to be no secret with locals as a spare table for two was difficult to come by. The modest cafe doesn’t boast the latest fit out on the strip and it’s easy to miss the discreet entry, however aesthetics is only part of the mix, and we came here for the food!
A warm and friendly vibe is instant upon entry, and felt we were greeted by genuine staff happy to accommodate. The vista provides a good outlook of the Norfolk pines, Sand and Surf with the upgraded Dee Why Beach forecourt giving the area a sleek new look.
The menu is simple and engaging, making decisions particularly difficult as hustling young waiters scoot between gaps in tables carrying mouth-watering items which confuse me further. Alas, we finally choose grilled garlic Turkish bread to start followed by two warm change salads.
My flash fried salt and pepper squid topped with two coconut crumbed prawns exceeded expectations and would convince anyone to come back for dinner. The flavors worked well, the squid fresh and generous while the prawns were sensational. A couple of coffees later gave us time to contemplate our next trip to Sea Change.
