This little restaurant has become an institution with locals and it’s not hard to see why. Enticing potential passers-by with the Corso in sight is distinct aromas of wood fired pizzas sizzling.
I found it impossible to walk on by – the noise, laughter and smells draw me into this ‘hole in the wall society’. A clever expansion in recent times now offers guests a hip yet, retro interior; perfect for a quick drink or snack.
Grabbing a seat was a challenge, and attracting the attention of staff was ridiculous, obviously clearly overwhelmed by the Christmas crowd. Our frustration, soon drowned by a Corona, eventually subsided.
When a table become available we saw our opportunity and didn’t look back. Presented with menus and a second round of drinks it was difficult to go past the herb and garlic pizza to start. Choosing our main pizza was a little more difficult with an extensive range of 24 meat, seafood and vegetarian varieties. If you aren’t daring - the classics are available with a slight twist on the originals.
We selected a large 50/50 Supreme and Goats Cheese pizza and Italian salad –anticipation gripped us!
The herb and garlic pizza starter was just what we were after with plenty of cheese and a strong garlic flavour. The 50/50 Pizza and Salad arrived 10mins later – Pronto! Toppings were generous, the base was crispy, with just the right thickness. The salad was simple and a good accompaniment.
Overall the experience was casual, the venue presents well, the food is great and the vibe cool. There is no doubt the service is its downfall – offspring serving adults!
